fear and anxiety………it’s fucking everywhere and most of us live in a state of both more often than not..….wherever you look in the mainstream and even social media you see more negative shit that drip feeds you brain…….and in particular a part called the amygdala which is where fear is first noticed and processed…..

most of us live with this so much and often we don’t even realize we are in that state…….many even get a strange and perverse sense of e=joyment of it even though they cant stand it…

so……..what do we do and how can we manage this better???…….fear and anxiety have their place as survival mechanisms……if for example you’re looking over a 100 story skyscraper then you better have some fear otherwise you could end up completely and utterly fucked……

most fear and anxiety is triggered by our emotional response to events that happen to us in life…….but one big thing that has helped me a fuckload is to understand this fundamental truth…… that an event is simply……an event……sounds simplistic and I hear you say “well yeah aren’t you a fuckin’ einstein”……..but here’s the reality….and how to best deal with it…….

when you see an event as just that and remove the “story” around it you can get better perspective and therefore be able to a better informed decision as opposed to the automatic reaction you would normally have…….like anything else learning a new habit (because that’s all this current behavior is), requires an awareness and through practice you will do better with it…….i’m no fucking expert but I do fuckloads better these days as result of learning this…..

imagine being a footy player on the field…….you’re right in the action and you can’t see yourself or have any view of what you’re doing……as the coach of a team you see things differently and see what is going on so you can give some advice (again perception based) but at least you can see it……..you are also not quite as emotionally involved……

from the fan’s viewpoint you are further away and while you may be still close to the action…..you have more distance to to see the play and make some input with less emotional attachment…..unless you’re one of those cunty one-eyed supporters ;-))……

moving on into the commentary box you’re even further detached and give less of a fuck about what’s going on…….because you have distanced yourself more from the play on the field….

so we have an exact same scenario being played out…in this case a player trying to get the footy…..…but 4 different view points…….all seeing the exact same fucking thing…..but you will have 4 different versions of the exact same event………people’s positionality towards an event will determine their emotional response……why is it that some people can cope with events that may seem quite innocuous to them but be a complete fucking tragedy to others???

perspective my friends…….and how we interpret things…..next time some event happens if you have the awareness……..stop…….look……take a step back and ask yourself “what actually happened?”…….in the fewest words possible as this will stop the bullshit story and potential victim statement that most of us automatically fall into……..practice makes perfect…..

be nice to each other but more importantly please be nice to yourselves…
